Overview
This opportunity is for a Senior Data Engineer supporting a federal program in a fully remote (United States) capacity. This is a full-time role focused on leading large-scale data migration and engineering initiatives, ensuring seamless transitions between legacy and modern systems while meeting strict government timelines and compliance requirements.
This position requires an active IRS MBI clearance.
Compensation
Base salary range: $100,000–$150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Do
- Lead data migration planning, strategy, assessment, and analysis efforts.
- Oversee the preparation of complex data queries, ETL processes, and data cleansing activities.
- Perform advanced data analysis, including trend identification, pattern recognition, linkage analysis, and anomaly detection.
- Provide technical leadership for transitioning large data sets between legacy and modern systems.
- Design and execute comprehensive data migration testing and validation strategies.
- Collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and security partners to ensure compliant and secure migration processes.
- Optimize data migration workflows to resolve performance issues and meet contract deadlines.
- Support stakeholder management and compliance requirements throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Identify business process improvements that impact data structures and migration outcomes.
- Deliver high-quality solutions within strict contractual timelines and government standards.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering and data architecture.
- Expert knowledge of Informatica and relational database management systems.
- Certification in a relational database technology such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong experience with complex and nested SQL queries.
- Familiarity with AWS and enterprise platforms such as Java, Pega, Salesforce, or MuleSoft.
- Proven experience in IT management or senior-level contractor roles.
- Strong understanding of software development processes, standards, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with ETL development, data cleansing, and performance optimization.
- Strong analytical skills, including statistical analysis and technical documentation.
- Ability to work within strict contractual deadlines and deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred.
- Active IRS MBI clearance required.
