Role summary
Support a hospital environment by keeping dining areas, kitchens, and adjacent spaces clean, safe, and well stocked during the overnight shift. You will follow established procedures, work from a supervisor’s direction, and help create a spotless, sanitary setting for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key duties
- Hard floor care: dust and damp mop; strip, refinish, and spray buff floors.
- Carpet and upholstery care: vacuum, spot clean, and shampoo as assigned.
- Collect and remove trash, soiled linen, and recyclables; replace liners and totes.
- Clean horizontal and vertical surfaces, vents, light fixtures, window ledges, doors, and counters.
- Service restrooms: clean and disinfect fixtures; replenish paper goods and soap.
- Maintain stairwells, elevators, fountains, walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and glassware.
- Change curtains, draperies, blinds, and shades when scheduled.
- Operate powered equipment safely; move and reset furniture and equipment as needed.
- Pick up supplies, pack regulated medical waste, and respond to floods and other emergencies.
- Remove soiled linens or protective coverings; clean and make beds, stretchers, and exam tables.
What you bring
- Entry level; able to read, write, add, and subtract; follow simple written or verbal instructions.
- Courteous communication when interacting with patients and visitors.
- Vaccination required for employment.
Physical demands
- Frequently lift and carry up to 10 lb; occasionally lift 11–20 lb.
- Regular stooping and bending; reaching and grasping below shoulder level and at shoulder level; occasional reaching above shoulder level.
- Continual pushing and pulling of non-motorized equipment weighing over 50 lb.
- Frequent hand grasping and fine manipulation.
- Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens; follow all required safety and PPE protocols.
