Cleaner

Location: Phoenix, AZ 85034.

Status: Full-time.

Shift: 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Pay: $17.87 to $26.80 per hour. Anticipated starting rate between $17.87 and $22.33 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

Position summary

Keep rail vehicles clean and sanitized to support public safety and hygiene. This role also includes
general shop janitorial and industrial cleaning to maintain a safe, professional maintenance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Wash, rinse, and clean the exterior of rail vehicles using approved equipment and cleaning agents.
• Clean, sanitize, and inspect interior surfaces, including high-contact areas, and sweep and mop floors.
• Remove gum and graffiti from surfaces.
• Open and inspect light panels to confirm operation and identify missing or damaged components.
• Identify and report needed repairs, safety concerns, or faulty equipment to a supervisor.
• Maintain shop and work-area cleanliness and housekeeping.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus 6 months of janitorial or industrial cleaning experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to use a computer and basic software.
• Comfort working with cleaning chemicals and following safe handling practices.
• Ability to communicate and follow work direction.

Physical demands and work environment

Work is performed across shop, rail yard, and vehicle environments using standard cleaning equipment.
The role involves standing and walking for much of the shift and may include kneeling, bending, climbing,
reaching, and working under time pressure. The environment may include exposure to mechanical and chemical
hazards, extreme temperatures, noise and vibration, and other industrial conditions.
