Accounting Specialist

About the Role
This opportunity is for an Accounting Specialist who will support the financial operations of the organization through accurate accounting, transaction processing, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance-related work. This role works closely with the finance team and reports to senior financial leadership. The position is fully remote and requires strong attention to detail, sound accounting judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Status: Full-Time
Compensation: $53,000 – $72,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility
What You’ll Do
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and expense reimbursements.
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, ensure timely payments, and resolve vendor discrepancies or inquiries.
- Generate customer invoices, monitor accounts receivable aging, and follow up on overdue payments.
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve billing issues and support accurate customer invoicing.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and accounting records.
- Assist with month-end close by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and generating financial reports.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and other ad hoc financial reports as needed.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal policies, and relevant regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and helping address audit findings.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen accuracy.
- Help implement best practices to streamline financial workflows and improve reporting quality.
- Collaborate with departments such as procurement, sales, and operations to address financial issues and support organizational alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounting practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with QuickBooks, HubSpot, or Bank of America CashPro is a plus.
- Experience with Amex GBT and Concur Travel & Expense is strongly desired.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as a strong team player.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to identify priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with clients and team members.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
