About the Role
This remote Senior Accountant role supports financial accounting systems, reporting, compliance, and daily accounting operations in a multi-entity environment. The position reports to finance leadership and plays a key role in financial reporting, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, GAAP compliance, audit support, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, mission-focused, and process-driven. This role requires strong accounting judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams and organizational objectives.

What You’ll Do
Planning, Policies & Finance Strategy
- Support the planning, development, and implementation of effective finance strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and long-term business planning initiatives.
- Support the finance department in developing short-term and long-term financial goals and forecasts.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with personnel, departments, and management.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, inclusion, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Financial Accounting System Oversight
- Support oversight of financial accounting systems, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, budget analysis, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
- Post daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related activity.
- Record daily financial transactions and prepare journal entries.
- Maintain accurate financial records and generate requested financial reports.
- Maintain job cost reports for staff time allocations and project intercompany charges.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review accurate financial statements.
- Prepare journal entries and complex account reconciliations, including bank, fixed asset, and revenue reconciliations.
- Develop Excel-based workbooks, worksheets, financial models, and analytical tools to support projects, planning, and internal operations.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial performance and status.
Month-End, Quarter-End & Year-End Close
- Assist with timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and properly documented.
- Support close-related reporting and reconciliation activities across multiple entities and projects.
- Maintain financial records and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
Analysis, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Analyze financial data, trends, and variances.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial projections.
- Enter budgets and budget adjustments into financial systems.
- Prepare financial budgets according to established schedules.
- Provide meaningful interpretation of financial data to support decision-making.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status for leadership and stakeholders.
Audits, Compliance & Internal Controls
- Work with external auditors and provide requested documentation.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and sensitive business data.
Process Improvement & Operations Support
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and processes to increase efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and operational improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments and leadership teams.
- Apply innovative and resourceful solutions to complex accounting and operational challenges.
- Support organizational initiatives that improve financial performance and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience processing financial accounting data.
- Experience performing financial analysis and posting journal entries to the General Ledger.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Outstanding analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to interpret financial information and communicate key findings effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff.
- Ability to explain financial and payroll-related processes clearly to employees and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong record of working effectively in team-oriented environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
