Full-Time
This opportunity is for a Staff-level Product Lead to own the payments product surface for a mission-critical money movement platform. The role covers payment rails, transaction flows, money movement mechanics, developer experience, compliance requirements, and the full product strategy for revenue-critical payments infrastructure.
This is a deeply technical, highly cross-functional individual contributor role. It does not include direct people management, but it requires principal-level ownership, strong product judgment, and the ability to set direction, drive alignment, and take full ownership of outcomes across Engineering, Compliance, Operations, Sales, and leadership stakeholders.
What You’ll Own
- Own the end-to-end payments product experience across rails such as Visa Direct, Mastercard Move, RTP, FedNow, ACH, and stablecoin, from API contract through settlement and reconciliation.
- Own the transaction lifecycle, including authorization, clearing, settlement, dispute and chargeback handling, and exception management.
- Define developer-facing payments primitives, including API design, payload schemas, error surfaces, and webhook contracts for sophisticated fintech builders.
- Shape multi-rail routing logic, including how rails are selected, fallback flows are handled, and routing is optimized based on speed, cost, and risk parameters.
- Own the payments compliance surface, including Reg E implications, network rule adherence, VCR framework considerations, dispute windows, and AML/sanctions workflow integration.
- Lead rail-specific product strategy and roadmap planning by identifying capability gaps, emerging network features, and new monetization opportunities.
- Partner closely with payment operations and engineering on incident response, degraded-rail scenarios, and SLA commitments.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
- Write rigorous product requirements documents and technical specifications for complex payment flows, including edge cases, failure modes, and regulatory constraints.
- Own the product roadmap for the payments surface area, prioritizing across rail expansion, developer experience improvements, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct deep discovery with customers and prospects to identify unmet needs related to how they move money.
- Partner with Engineering to define API contracts, review implementation details, and maintain a high standard for developer ergonomics.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Legal on network rule changes, NACHA updates, and card network bulletins, translating regulatory inputs into product requirements.
- Work with payment operations to define reconciliation requirements, exception-handling workflows, and operational tooling needs.
- Represent the payments product in customer conversations, sales cycles, and external thought leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of product management experience, including at least 3 years building payments products at infrastructure, fintech, or card-network depth.
- Hands-on experience with at least two payment areas, such as ACH, RTP/FedNow, Visa Direct/Mastercard Move, card issuing or acquiring, or stablecoin rails.
- Deep familiarity with the transaction lifecycle, including authorization, clearing, settlement, disputes, and the operational mechanics behind each step.
- Experience using Reg E, NACHA operating rules, or Visa/Mastercard network rules as inputs into product requirements.
- Strong API product instincts, including experience shipping developer-facing payment APIs and clear opinions on what makes them effective.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity at a senior individual contributor level without needing a manager to set the agenda.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to turn complex payment flows into clear, precise specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to influence Engineering, Compliance, and Operations teams without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a BaaS provider, card network, sponsor bank, or payments infrastructure company, rather than only as a fintech end user.
- Familiarity with stablecoin settlement rails such as USDC or USDT and how they interact with traditional fiat rails.
- Background in chargeback lifecycle mechanics, dispute reason codes, or VCR workflow design.
- Prior experience with multi-rail routing or smart payment orchestration logic.
Why This Role Matters
- Own one of the most technically complex and commercially critical product surfaces in the business.
- Work directly with leadership in a product-driven environment and help shape what strong product management looks like as the product function grows.
- Contribute to a profitable Series A growth-stage company.
- Work in real-time, multi-rail payment infrastructure, a complex and still underdeveloped area of fintech product development.
What Is Offered
- Competitive compensation with equity in a growing fintech company.
- Remote-first culture with flexible working arrangements.
- Small-team environment where the work has direct impact on responsible scaling.
- Professional growth opportunities in compliance and risk management.
- Mission-driven work building infrastructure that supports financial innovation while meeting high regulatory standards.
- 100% company-paid health insurance for employees.
- 401(k) plan with company matching.
- Wide range of employee benefits.
