Material handler

Employment type: Full-time

Schedule: 1st shift, Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay: ~ $19 - $20.50/hour

Role overview

This warehouse and machine shop role supports daily material movement, cleaning, counting, tagging, and work area upkeep within a production environment. You will help move materials safely, support machine operators, maintain clean equipment and workspaces, and keep production flow organized throughout the shift.

What you’ll do

• Read work orders or follow instructions to determine which materials or containers need to be moved.
• Open containers and load or unload materials by hand onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
• Install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Move materials from storage or work areas to designated locations.
• Count, weigh, and record units of material moved or handled on daily production sheets.
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials and containers.
• Operate and maintain the SmartSkim or coolant recycling system.
• Lift heavy objects by hand or with a power hoist.
• Clean materials by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Wash objects in cleaning and rinsing solutions to remove debris.
• Fill tanks with water and add soap or chemicals to required levels.
• Clean work areas, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

What you’ll need

• High school diploma or GED.
• Up to 1 month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to understand and follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
• Regular and consistent attendance.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work well with different individuals and teams.
• Ability to add and subtract whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to use calculators, calipers, scales, and measuring tapes.
