Role overview

Work as a construction laborer and concrete picker on heavy construction, earthmoving, remediation, and demolition projects. You will handle physical tasks in outdoor conditions and support safe, efficient site operations.

Your day to day

  • Perform physical labor on construction, remediation, and demolition sites.
  • Load, unload, and move construction materials, including concrete forms and tools.
  • Assist with pouring, leveling, and finishing concrete surfaces.
  • Clean and prepare work areas, remove debris, and help set up equipment.
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools, pressure washers, pumps, compressors, generators, skid steers, and other site equipment.
  • Clean construction areas to eliminate hazards and keep sites organized.
  • Lubricate, clean, and perform minor repairs on tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks or trailers.
  • Signal equipment operators to help with alignment and movement of machinery and materials.
  • Build temporary structures such as fencing and braces, dig trenches, and clean up rubble.
  • Work in confined spaces, including permit-required confined spaces when needed.
  • Assist with Job Safety Analyses, safety observations, and other reports.
  • Use stop-work authority and follow site safety expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the project team.

What you will bring

  • Ability and willingness to work on hazardous and non-hazardous waste sites, with potential exposure to metals, chemicals, and other site-specific hazards.
  • Ability to travel frequently and for extended periods to project sites across the United States.
  • Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, dust, and noisy environments.
  • Physically able to perform heavy labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and handling materials, pumps, hoses, and other equipment.
  • Comfort working at heights on scaffolding, bridges, buildings, and similar structures.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces with appropriate training and PPE.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection and protective clothing.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a crew.
  • Basic ability to read and understand work instructions and safety information.
  • Previous construction or hazardous waste experience preferred but not strictly required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current refresher required (or ability to meet this requirement as stated by the employer).

Schedule and travel

  • Typical schedule Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays as needed.
  • Frequent and extended travel to project sites within the U.S. is required.
  • Per diem and travel pay provided while on projects, plus trips home as outlined by the employer.

Work environment and physical demands

  • Most work is performed while standing or walking on rugged, uneven terrain.
  • Regular bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and material handling.
  • Work in dusty, windy, loud environments and in confined spaces when required.
  • Use of a wide range of PPE, including hard hat, eye and hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, protective coveralls, and various types of respiratory protection.
